Led by professional jeweller Violet Bye, the Jewel Savoir serves both enthusiasts and professionals as a space for insight and discussion on jewellery topics. Here we showcase designer talent from past and present, including those who are carving our 21st Century Jewellery history in real time.
After studying Psychology to a Master’s Degree level, in 2013 Violet took her first jewellery job and several years later, is now considered an expert in bespoke design and pearls. Upon entering the trade, she embarked upon a self-directed curated syllabus which included practical bench skills in traditional metal work, wax carving and hand engraving.
Her design skills include technical drawing for production and hand rendering jewellery in gouache. Theoretical training included the National Association of Jeweller’s (NAJ) Professional Jeweller’s Diploma (PJDip). She is also a member of the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Society of Jewellery Historians.
Throughout this exciting career, intense periods of international travel has offered Violet the possibility to design jewels for many public figures including royalty and the political class, artists and musicians.
